Wellness in the Wild: “Skills for Trail and Soul”

Learn, explore, and unwind—all in one day. This full day workshop blends outdoor adventure and wellness with immersive, hands-on learning to help you enjoy the wilderness just a wee bit more.

Spend the day surrounded by trees, fresh air, and good company as we explore practical, confidence-boosting topics, pause to enjoy a peaceful hike deep in the woods, and wind down with a gentle, refreshing Happy Hips Restorative session to relax, stretch and reconnect.

Itinerary:

9:30 - 10:00am - Arrival & Welcome

10:00 - 10:45am - Dangerous Plants & Wildlife in Ontario Activity

10:45 - 12:00 - Guided Hike (~5km) with helpful tidbits on safety on the trail

12:00 - 12:15 - Break

12:15 - 1:15 - Fire Building Skills (fire starting methods, wood processing, building techniques + nature tinder sources)

1:15 - 1:45 - Lunch & Activity

1:45 - 2:15 - Bear Aware Training

2:15 - 2:30 - Break

2:30 - 3:30 - Gentle "Happy Hips" yoga class - come back to body and mind

3:45 - 4:00PM - Closing Circle & Final Remarks

  • Dangerous Plants & Wildlife – What to watch for and how to stay safe

  • Bear Safety– Deterrents and staying proactive on the trail

  • Fire-Building Basics – Simple hands-on skills that work

  • Day Hike Essentials – What you actually need (and what you don’t)

This workshop is perfect for curious minds, cautious explorers, and nature lovers of all levels. You’ll leave feeling more confident, more capable, and more connected to the natural world—and to yourself.

Lauri Corlett is an experienced backcountry adventurer, environmental professional, and founder of SHE Ventures, an initiative empowering women through shared multi-day backcountry adventures. With a background in environmental science, she blends technical expertise with a passion for confidence-building. Lauri has completed over a dozen long-distance treks worldwide and is committed to fostering resilience, connection, and responsible outdoor practices.
